Electric Knife

GOAL: reverse engineer a consumer electronics product and create a CAD assembly of the parts

SKILLS: Measurement, CAD (Solidworks), CONOPs, HTA and task analysis, function structure, collaboration

I used Solidworks to model parts of the Proctor Silex electric knife. I was responsible for the motor and its surrounding parts, as well as the blades. We also had to do concept of operations and task analyses, and create a function structure diagram, decomposition table, and exploded view.

In this project, accuracy of measurement was very important because my pieces had to fit together with my group members' pieces in the end. There was also a lot of pieces to keep track of. Before I started CADing anything, I first sketched out my plans and recorded important measurements.
